A funnel cloud formed over Fairbanks
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -Is it a bird, a plane, a tornado? Actually, it is a cold air funnel cloud. A motorist captured the funnel cloud near Fairbanks. The photos taken by Cory Goodman were shared to the Fairbanks, Alaska Facebook group and also by the National Weather Service. According to the weather service, cold air funnels are common in Alaska, especially in cooler air masses like the one we are currently in. Although they look like tornadoes, they are almost always harmless, and very rarely even reach the ground.
