Fairbanks man arrested after citywide chase
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -
According to Alaska State Troopers, Norman Gallen, 44, of Fairbanks was involved in a high speed chase across Fairbanks and outlying areas that ended when he crashed into a private residence early Tuesday morning. The dispatch says that troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Davis Road for an equipment violation but the driver did not stop. Troopers, University Police and Fairbanks Police pursued the vehicle which eventually crashed near Hagelbarger Ave.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled into the woods and was arrested off of Gilmore Trail. Police determined that the driver, Gallen, was under the influence of drugs and that he did not have a valid drivers licence. There was also a passenger in the vehicle who said they were not allowed out during the chase.
Gallen was charged with failure to stop at the direction of a police officer, kidnapping, reckless driving, driving under the influence, misconduct involving a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
Gallen was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center with no set bail.
