North Pole football opens training camp
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -
The North Pole Patriots football program opened their training camp on July 29 in preparation for the 2020 season. The Patriots are looking to improve from their 2019 campaign where they won one game under then first-year Head Coach Mike Hollett.
“Everyday we get this season is a going to be a gift you know so were just going to come out and work super hard and you never know when it’s going to be your last one.” said Coach Hollett.
North Pole, along with the rest of the teams in Interior, Alaska, now tackle nearly a month of training before the season officially starts August 20. The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District announced earlier this month that Fall sports will happen and that the school year will begin on August 20. North Pole is a young squad that is looking to make some noise in the Railbelt Conference.
“Feels great, good to see everyone out here working hard. Seeing new faces of people trying out the sport it’s really nice.” said North Pole’s Luis Rodriguez.
While the Fairbanks borough stays within the intermediate risk level with the COVID-19 pandemic, sports will continue to operate.
