Anchorage Woman dies in crash on Parks Highway

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Alaska State Troopers say Karina Sibayan, 21 of Anchorage was killed Sunday morning on the Parks Highway when the car she was riding in rear ended a slow moving dump truck.

Troopers said around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday a dump truck pulling a trailer was traveling southbound on the shoulder of the highway about halfway between Fairbanks and Nenana. The truck was experiencing mechanical problems and was traveling at a slow rate of speed.

A Jeep Patriot driven by Dylan Mayo, 21 of Anchorage struck the rear end of the dump truck. Also inside the Jeep was Sibayan and Kalen Lozano, 23, both of Anchorage.

Sibayan was pronounced dead on scene, next of kin have been notified. Mayo and Lozano were both transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
