The final countdown: Alaska Division of Elections nears completed ballot count
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Division of Elections is continuing to count ballots from last week’s primary election. As of publishing time, almost 29,000 ballots had been counted since last Tuesday. Currently there are still around 20,000 ballots to be counted in the next few days. They have set a date of Friday August 28th to have the count complete with the results being certified on August 30.
Here are the most recent results for some of the races.
In the Democrat Primary for U.S. Senator, Al Gross currently leads with 70.4%.
In the Democrat Primary for U.S. Representative, Alyse Galvin leads with 85.08%.
On the Republican side, Don Young 76.64%. Sullivan was running unopposed for U.S. Senate.
In some of the tighter local state races, republican Robert Myers leads republican John Coghill by 8 votes in Senate District B.
In the Democrat House District 1 race, Christopher Quist leads Bennie Colbert by 11 votes.
In the Republican House District 2, Steve Thompson leads Dave Selle by 37 votes.
