FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - GOOD EVENING AND WELCOME TO OUR FRIDAY NIGHT WEATHER, MIKE SHULTZ WITH YOU ONCE AGAIN.

WE STARTED OFF THE DAY WITH RAIN, BUT THEN THE SUN RETURNED THIS AFTERNOON, AND THE WEEKEND IS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD.

OUR WEATHER PICTURE TONIGHT IS A GREAT NATURE SHOT OF AN ORCA NEAR KODIAK.

OUR HIGH TEMPERATURE TODAY SO FAR HAS BEEN 53,WITH THE LOW LAST NIGHT OF 48.

THE RECORD HIGH WAS 78 IN 1917, WIT THE LOW OF 24 IN 1980.

ACROSS THE STATE EXCEPT FOR FORT YUKON, THE REST OF THE STATE IS LOOKING AT 50′S WITH 40′S ON THE NORTH SLOPE AND AT NOME.

THE WEATHER SATELLITE AND RADAR IS SHOWING A STEADY STREAM OF MOISTURE INTO THE SOUTHEASTERN SECTIONS.

EXCEPT FOR LINGERING SHOWERS IN THE INTERIOR SKIES ARE MAINLY CLOUDY.

IN THE LOWER 48, IT IS HOT AND CLEAR FOR WESTERN HALF OF THE COUNTRY, WHILE TEXAS STILL AHS HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS, AND A FEW SHOWERS ARE STILL MOVING ACROSS THE EASTERN HALF.

TEMPERATURES ARE EXTREMELY WARM ACROSS THE MOST OF THE COUNTRY.

BACK IN ALASKA TOMORROW,SKIES WILL BE CLOUDY ON THE NORTH SLOPE WITH SUNNY SKIES IN NOME, THE INTERIOR WILL SEE COOLER TEMPERATURES WITH CLEARING SKIES. SKIES WILL BE SUNNY FOR JUNEAU WITH SUN IN KETCHIKAN, BETHEL WILL SEE SUNSHINE WITH CLOUDY CONDITIONS FOR COLD BAY AND KODIAK. SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA WILL HAVE SUNNY SKIES OVER THE REGION.

BEFORE WE GET TO OUR LOCAL FORECAST, YOU SHOULD BE ADVISED THAT COLDER TEMPERATURES WILL MOVE INTO THE INTERIOR TOMORROW NIGHT WITH A POSSIBILITY OF A LIGHT FROST, SO GARDENERS SHOULD DO WHAT THEY CAN TO PROTECT THEIR CROPS. OUR FORECAST FOR TONIGHT WILL SEE SHOWERS ENDING AND SKIES BEGINNING TO CLEAR. TOMORROW MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES ARE EXPECTED AND THE SAME FOR SUNDAY. RAIN IS LIKLEY ON MONDAY WILL CONTINUE OFF AND ON INTO MID WEEK.
