FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME INTO OUR TUESDAY NIGHT WEATHER, MIKE SHULTZ WITH YOU.

WE STARTED OFF THE DAY WITH STEADY RAIN THAT EVENTUALLY BECAME SCATTERED CLOUDS, BUT NOW THE RAIN HAS RETURNED. MORE ON THAT IN JUST A MINUTE.

THE HIGH TODAY WAS 53, AND THE LOW LAST NIGHT WAS 49.

THE RECORD HIGH OF 77 WAS SET IN 1191 AND THE OVERNIGHT LOW OF 20 HAPPENED IN 1921.

ACROSS THE STATE KETCHILAN WAS THE WARMEST WIT 69 DEGREES WHILE THE NORTH SLOPE CHECKED IN WITH 37 DEGREES.

THE STATE SATELLITE AND RADAR PICTURE SHOWS MOST OF THE STATE COVERED BY CLOUDS AND SHOWERS. IN THE LOWER 48 THE WEST IS AGAIN CLEAR AND HOT WHILE THE ROCKIES ARE SEEING SNOW AT ALL ELEVATIONS INCLUDING THE DENVER AREA.

ELSEWHERE, STORMS ARE MOVING ACROSS THE MIDWEST AND OVER THE DEEP SOUTH. IN THE ATLANTIC TROPICAL STORM PAULETTE CONTINUES TO GAIN STRENGTH, BUT IS NOT A THREAT TO ANYBODY FOR QUITE AWHILE.

TEMPERATURES CONTINUE HOT OUT OT EH WEST WITH SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES OVER THE EASTERN SECTIONS.

BACK IN ALASKA FOR TOMORROW, IT WILL BE QUITE COOL ON THE NORTH SLOPE WITH SUNNY SKIES IN NOME. THE INTERIOR WILL SEE PERIODS OF RAIN WITH SNOW IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. OVER THE SOUTHEAST, JUNEAU WILL SEE RAIN WHILE KETCHIKAN WILL BE SUNNY. THE SOUTHWEST WILL SEE PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES AT BETHEL WITH COLD BAY AND KODIAK SUNNY. THE SOUTHCENTRAL REGION WILL BE CLOUDY IN ANCHORAGE AND HOMER, WHILE VALDEZ WILL HAVE SHOWERS.

OUR FORECAST CALLS FOR RAIN DEVELOPING LATER TONIGHT AND CONTINUING INTO TOMORROW EVENING, WITH CLOUDY SKIES UNTIL FRIDAY AND SUNNY FOR THE WEEKEND.
