PET OF THE WEEK: Meet Wanda, a two-year old Alaska husky mix
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -
Will you be the brand new owner of this cute Alaskan Husky mix? Well, you could be, if you adopt Wanda, this week’s News 13 Pet of the Week.
Here’s what Kimberly Imbert, Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Wanda is a two year old Alaska husky mix. She came into the shelter because her owner was having problems. Wanda came in with a large group of dogs that were raised in an unusual type of environment and they did not receive a lot of socialization.
Wanda actually is one of the more social dogs of the group and she really wants to be friends with people. She wants to get a lot of attention, and she’s really affectionate which is really great to see. Her new family needs to have a lot of patience though and treat her a lot like a puppy. She will probably really enjoy getting into the garbage, she might even think that counters are a fun place to go. So she’ll have to be taught what’s appropriate for her to do. And it’ll also take some socializing to get her used to other pets in the home as well.
Wanda is doing a really good job of keeping her kennel clean. But she is not actually housebroken so she’ll have to be taught that is a thing she needs to do on purpose. Wanda is a young girl and she has a lot of potential to be a great member of someone’s family if they have the time and patience for her. She has other dog, cat, and other small animal friends looking for homes as well.”
