FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - On Tuesday, many teams from the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District were active for a night full matches.

Flag Football

Hutchison Hawks @ North Pole Patriots

The North Pole Patriots started their three-game slate with a Tuesday night match-up against the Hutchison Hawks. Desi Dutra led the Patriots with two early rushing touchdowns in their 30-14 victory.

North Pole now faces the Lathrop Malemutes on September 23 while the Hutchison Hawks face Lathrop on September 28.

West Valley Wolfpack @ Lathrop Malemutes

The West Valley Wolfpack and the Lathrop Malemutes did battle once again in their storied rivalry this time on the flag football field. Lathrop were in control through most of the game, but the Wolfpack were able to get into the end-zone late in the fourth quarter to put pressure on the purple and gold. West Valley had one last drive with 25 seconds left, and the Wolfpack were stopped in their tracks by Lathrop’s defense giving the purple and gold the 13-6 victory.

“It feels good, I was a little nervous because they scored that touchdown on us, but it honestly feels good because it is the first time we’ve played them and now we know how they play," said Lathrop’s Ruby Scanlon.

Lathrop will face North Pole on September 23 while the Wolfpack take on the Patriots on September 24.


West Valley vs. Lathrop

The West Valley Wolfpack and the Lathrop Malemutes battled on the Dan Ramras Courts with Lathrop getting big wins in their 5-2 victory.

In the boys singles matches gained Lathrop two points from Luke Millam earned a 2-0 (6-3, 6-2) sweep over Axton Siekmann and Jagan Nautiyal (6-1, 6-1)sweeping Eli Ludwig. West Valley got on the board with a sweep thanks to Aidan Payan and Kade Rowland (6-4, 6-4) who took down Lathrop’s Gage Hale and Owen Averett.

Lathrop then swept the girls singles matches with Helen Wharton (6-0, 6-0) taking down Astrid Anderson while Maci McGrath (6-0, 6-2) beat Mya Perkins. In the girls doubles, the Malemutes earned the point with Tiffani Holcraft and Hannah Knott (6-0, 6-4) sweeping Samantha Stark and June Wallace.

The match then ended with the mixed doubles as West Valley won with Klara Kondrake and Cole Neal (6-2, 6-2) sweeping Peter Park and Fiona Beardsley.


North Pole Patriots @ Hutchison Hawks

The North Pole Patriots have been on a roll in the Interior, Alaska to start the volleyball season and they continued their winning ways with a sweep over the Hutchison Hawks. North Pole (25-13, 25-10, 25-22) was led by the play of their seniors in Ainsley Smith and Kinley Erickson. Smith dished out 20 assists while Erickson chipped in 10 kills.

The Patriots will take on Lathrop on September 24 while the Hawks take on the Eielson Ravens on the 24th.
