Ice Dogs can envision season with schedule release, first home game January 21
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs organization and its fans saw one of the first tangible items that makes this phrase a reality: ‘The Ice Dogs will be playing hockey this season.’
The North American Hockey League released its full season schedule Thursday, with the Ice Dogs first game coming on the road against the Janesville Jets November 5.
“I just think this validates it for everyone and probably most importantly, the players," General Manager of the Ice Dogs Rob Proffitt said.
The Ice Dogs will meet in Marshall, Minnesota at the end of October, where they will be hosted by the city to begin their season. Fairbanks will continue to play games at the Red Baron Arena and surrounding venues until they return to Alaska in January.
The Ice Dogs will visit the Kenai River Brown Bears for a series January 15-16 before hosting their first home game of the new year. Fairbanks will welcome the Jets to the Big Dipper Ice Arena January 21-23 to open their home slate.
“It is going to be a rock show all the way through April, every night," said Proffitt. "Excited for that, but a lot of work to get done for that, working in partnership with the [Fairbanks North Star] Borough and the [Big] Dipper to get the pieces in place so we can make that happen and follow the correct guidelines to make that happen.”
