FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Welcome back to the weather for a Thursday.

WE COULDN’T QUITE GET RID OF THESE CLOUDS AND SNOW FLURRIES TODAY, BUT TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER.

TODAY’S WEATHER PHOTO IS A BEAUTIFUL SNAPSHOT OF THE TANANA RIVER NEAR BIRCH LAKE.

TODAY’S HIGH HAS BEEN 24, AND THE LOW LAST NIGHT WAS 20.

THE RECORD HIGH WAS 59 IN 1969, AND THE LOW WAS 15 BELOW IN 1965.

ACROSS THE STATE KODIAK WAS THE WARMEST WITH 51, WHILE THE REST OF THE STATE WAS IN THE 20′S 30′S AND 40′S.

THE SATELLITE AND RADAR SHOWS A LARGE AREA OF SHOWERS MOVING INTO THE SOUTHEAST AND A STRONG FRONT APPROACHING THE WEST COAST.

IN THE LOWER 48 SKIES HAVE CLEARED FOR ALL OF THE WEST WITH HOT TEMPERATURES IN THE SOUTHWEST. SOME RAIN AND SNOW IS MOVING ACROSS THE NORTHERN TIER STATES, AND A STRONG COLD FRONT IS MARCHING ACROSS THE NATIONS MIDSECTION.

TEMPERATURES ARE COOL OVER THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE COUNTRY WITH NEAR RECORD HIGHS OVER THE SOUTHWEST.

BACK IN ALASKA TOMORROW THE NORTH SLOPE WILL SEE MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES ON THE NORTH SLOPE, WITH HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE AT NOME.

THE INTERIOR WILL SEE SUNSHINE WITH NOT AS COLD TEMPERATURES.

THE SOUTHEAST WILL SEE SUNNY SKIES AT JUNEAU AND KETCHIKAN.

SUNSHINE WILL ALSO BE THE RULE FOR THE SOUTHWEST AND THE SOUTHCENTRAL REGIONS.

LOCALLY TONIGHT, WE WILL SEE CLEARING SKIES AND TEMPERATURES FALLING TO NEAR ZERO.

TOMORROW MORE SUNSHINE AND A LITTLE WARMER, AND TOMORROW NIGHT CLEAR SKIES AND NOT AS COLD.

THE EXTENDED FORECAST IS FOR A NICE WEEKEND BUT CLOUDING OVER SUNDAY NIGHT WITH A CHANCE OF SNOW CONTINUING INTO THE FIRST PART OF THE WEEK THEN SKIES CLEARING AND TURNING A LITTLE COLDER.
