Early voting begins in Alaska, draws line of citizens in Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Monday, October 19th marked the start of early voting in Alaska, and Fairbanks saw a surge of eager citizens getting out to make their voice known.

According to the Alaska Division of Elections (DOE), staff at polling places are reporting lines like they’ve never seen before.

Voters in line at the Region Three elections office near downtown Fairbanks reported waiting between thirty minutes and an hour from the back of the line to stepping out the door having cast their vote.

In an email, the DOE wrote that as of 2:20pm , 2,531 people had voted early in Alaska.
