FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The first big snow day of the year has fallen on Fairbanks Alaska. Reporters Ryan Osborne and Richard Atkin spoke with locals around town about how they feel about the snow, and how they plan to make the most of the weather this year.

“I’m loving it man, like, to be honest it brings a lot of normalcy you know what I mean? Where a lot of people aren’t going through anything normal right now, this is one of those things you can count on. Gets you outside, gets you some fresh air. I love it man, it’s a challenge,” said Daniel Christensen, a Fairbanks local.

“I have mixed feelings. Snow’s gorgeous but I hate the cold. I hate the cold so very much. Its beautiful, I mean, it just, it makes an already gorgeous state look even better. I was looking at my jack o’lanterns this morning and all the snow and was thinking maybe I was gonna make a snowman and put a jack o’lantern on top of it... kind of combine looks a little bit, I think it will be fun. I haven’t put my winter tires on yet. So I’m gonna need to do that in the very near future,” said Mackyle Bogachoff, a Fairbanks local.

“Um, I hate the snow and I hate the cold. I can’t see anything. I like sliding around the snow in my car and in my boots, that’s real fun. I’ve had snow tires on my car all year already, so I’m prepared. Car has been ready since last year. I got to get heat in my stove. I don’t know what I need to do. I don’t know, I don’t like to think about winter and what I need to do to prepare for it. I just am trying to get through the winter and ignore the snow. Now that the snow is here I’m gonna make a little snowman village in my yard, have a big ol snowman, name her Quarantina the snowman,” said Mika McCrary, a Fairbanks local.
