FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -

HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME INTO OUR TUESDAY NIGHT WEATHER. SNOW FLURRIES HUNG AROUND TODAY UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON WHEN SKIES BEGAN TO CLEAR.

MORE ABOUT THAT IN A MINUTE, BUT FIRST OUR WEATHER PHOTO TODAY WITH A HALLOWEEN FLAVOR SENT IN BY JOANNE KLUMB.

THE HIGH TODAY WAS 29 AND THE LOW LAST NIGHT 12.

THE RECORD HIGH WAS 49 IN 1990, AND THE RECORD LOW DROPPED TO 27 BELOW IN 1996.

THE DAYLIGHT WILL BE 8 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES AFTER A 7 MINUTE LOSS.

ACROSS THE STATE, KODIAK HAD THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE WITH FORT YUKON THE COLDEST.

THE SATELLITE AND RADAR PICTURE SHOWS SHOWERS OVER THE SOUTHEAST AND NEAR THE PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND AREA, WHILE LIGHT SNOW IS IN THE INTERIOR.

IN THE LOWER 48 SNOW IS MOVING ACROSS THE DAKOTAS, BUT A LARGE AREA OF SNOW, FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN SHOWERS IS CONCENTRATED OVER THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS. HURRICANE ZETA IS GAINING STRENGTH ACROSS THE GULF OF MEXICO.

TEMPERATURES ARE VERY COOL ACROSS A LARGE PORTION OF THE COUNTRY, WITH 40′S AS FAR SOUTH AS DALLAS.

BACK IN ALASKA, PERIODS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE NORTH SLOPE, WITH SUNNY SKIES IN NOME.

THE INTERIOR WILL SEE CLEARING SKIES ALONG WITH COOLING TEMPERATURES.

OVER THE SOUTHEAST, RAIN SHOWERS ARE LIKELY FOR JUNEAU WITH SUNNY SKIES IN KETCHIKAN. BETHEL WILL BE CLOUDY WITH RAIN AND SNOW AT COLD BAY AND MOSTLY SUNNY IN KODIAK.

THE SOUTHCENTRAL AREAS WILL SEE SUNNY SKIES IN ANCHORAGE AND HOMER AND A FEW CLOUDS FOR VALDEZ.

LOCALLY TONIGHT WE COULD SEE SOME LIGHT SNOW DEVELOPING WITH LITTLE ACCUMULATION, TOMORROW WILL BE MOSTLY SUNNY BY AFTERNOON, WITH CLEARING SKIES AND COLDER TOMORROW NIGHT.

THE EXTENDED FORECAST IS FOR SKIES TO BE CLOUDY WITH MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES MOVING IN FOR THE WEEKEND AND MAYBE SOME LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS SATURDAY.
