FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Nanooks rifle program open their 2020-21 season on the road with a series against the Memphis Tigers. Alaska open their season with a new head coach in Will Anti.

“We’re just excited we get to shoot a match," said Coach Anti. “The whole team is eager to shoot a match, training’s been going really well and Memphis is a great team.”

During a press conference on November 13, a question over the rifle program traveling during the pandemic was brought up but University of Alaska Fairbanks Vice Chancellor Keith Champagne pointed to the rifle program’s rich history and that they are a nationally recognized team.

“We have a dynasty in terms of our rifle program,” said Champagne. “The rifle trip this year is critical because we have an opportunity to compete for a national championship.”

Alaska faces the Tigers this weekend for a series before heading over to Ole Miss on the 17th and then taking on Georgia Southern on the 19th.
