FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - With the holiday season fast approaching, the Alaska State Troopers have begun a new ‘Click It or Ticket’ Campaign.

The new campaign is called ‘Buckle Up. Every Trip. Every Time.’ It began on Monday November 16 and will go till November 29.

“Currently we are, as the Alaska State Troopers, participating in a Click it or Ticket campaign, which is authorized through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The campaign focuses on seatbelt and safety belt enforcement. We are actively enforcing and looking for seatbelt violations here in Fairbanks and throughout the State of Alaska,” said Nicholas Sailer, a Trooper with the Alaska State Troopers.

The high visibility campaign will have troopers doing enhanced traffic enforcement as part of the campaign.

“The Alaska Troopers and the Department of Public Safety have a zero tolerance approach to the terms of seatbelt usage. We actively enforce seat belt violations, as it is statistically proven to increase safety during traffic accidents, Our department takes a zero tolerance approach and you will be cited if caught not wearing any safety belt,” said Sailer.
