Nuiqsut man charged with sexual assault by Fairbanks Police

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A Nuiqsut man was arrested by the Fairbanks Police Department after he allegedly raped a woman. Lazarus Luther Ahkiviana, 31, was in Fairbanks when the alleged assault took place.

According to charging documents, the victim arrived at his hotel to visit him and he began taking off her clothes and asking her for sex. She said no multiple times but the complaint says he would not stop and raped her.

Police met with Ahkiviana who told them that he was drunk and had no reason not to believe the victim. He was charged with First Degree sexual assault and other charges. He was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center.
