Fairbanks Arts Association invites members to submit pieces for January exhibition
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks Arts Association is inviting its members to submit one work of their art for display in the Bear Gallery at the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts in Pioneer Park.
This display will run from the 8th to the 29th of January.
Fairbanks Arts Association Programs and Communications Coordinator Teal Francis said, “It’s a really fun exhibition for the gallery because we get to have works from the community and oftentimes we get lots of different types of media and different types of sizes of works.”
Submissions are accepted until noon on Saturday, January 2nd. Works can then be dropped off at the gallery from 1-5 p.m. on the 2nd and 3rd of January.
Francis specified that this year the display is not juried. “Anyone who submits a work will be included in the exhibition, which is really fun because we get to have works from all parts of the community in this show.”
According to Francis, a wide range of art forms are typically featured in this yearly display. “We usually have paintings, we have printmaking pieces, we often have quilts and other types of fiber works, we have sculptures, we have ceramic pieces, often times we have jewelry, really a whole big range.”
Francis moved to Fairbanks in August of this year, and said of the city’s art community, “People support one another, which is really exciting. I think for Fairbanks’ size, we have a really incredible arts community here.”
Membership information and more about the Fairbanks Arts Association can be found on their website. The gallery is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for viewing.
COVID-19 precautions are in place at this time. Visitors are asked to wear facemasks and practice social distancing, and capacity is limited to 10 people at a time.
