Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce wraps up campaign highlighting community businesses
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce is wrapping up its “Around the Town in 80 Days” promotion encouraging people to shop at community businesses.
The campaign, which began on October 14th, has run for 11 weeks - each week highlighting a slate of small businesses.
During the week, participants shop at the featured businesses and turn in their receipts to the Chamber in a specialized calendar. Each receipt is one entry in a drawing to win 2 tickets from Alaska Airlines.
For the previous week, receipts from any participating business qualify until tonight (Thurs.) at midnight.
In a November interview, Chamber CEO Marisa Sharrah explained the reasoning behind the campaign, saying, “We’re just here to remind people that you can shop locally. We have a lot of great local businesses in our community, and want to get those businesses in front of people’s minds in our community so that you can make sure to support your local economy and support the businesses that keep this community running.”
Receipts can be turned into the Chamber of Commerce until January 6th.
More information about the campaign can be found on the chamber’s website.
