FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Clyde “Ed” Sniffen has been officially named Attorney General for the State of Alaska.

Governor Mike Dunleavy’s office announced the appointment in a press release Monday.

Regarding his choice, the governor said, “Ed Sniffen has a long and proven record of leadership within the Department of Law and I am proud to appoint him to serve as our state’s next Attorney General.”

Sniffen has served as Acting Attorney General since August of last year following the text messaging scandal and subsequent resignation of Kevin Clarkson.

Sniffen said, “I am honored to be selected as the next Attorney General for Alaska, and look forward to working on the important legal issues facing our state.”
