Senator Lisa Murkowski to chair Congressional Fire Services Caucus
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Alaska U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski has been named Chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus for the 117th Congress.
According to their website, the caucus was formed in 1987 to be a bipartisan means of educating congressmembers about fire and emergency services around the country.
In her new position, Murkowski tweeted that she will “continue to advocate for the health and safety of our fire service members, empowering them to serve and protect the public to the best of their abilities.”
This position has previously been held by President-Elect Joe Biden and the late Senator John McCain.
Murkowski was named Legislator of the Year by the Congressional Fire Services Institute in 2019.
