correction: Alaska State Troopers originally reported Misty Blanchard's age as 51. Chief Scott Learned of the Steese Fire Department has confirmed that her age is 41, we have adjusted our story to reflect that information.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - On Monday afternoon at approximately 4:00 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report of a snowmachine accident near Fox, on the pipeline access trails. Fairbanks troopers responded to the scene.

An initial investigation revealed that 41-year-old Misty Blanchard of Fairbanks was operating a snowmachine with a single passenger identified as 23-year-old Sidney Robertson of Jackson, Missouri, neither were wearing helmets. While descending down a steep hill Blanchard lost control of the snowmachine which caused herself and Robertson to be thrown off of the snowmachine and onto the ground.

Lifesaving efforts including CPR were performed at the scene, however, Blanchard was declared deceased. Robertson was medevaced to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and then on to Providence Alaska Medical Center. Next of kin have been notified.
