Fairbanks North Star Borough seeks applicants for three Board of Equalization seats
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) is currently looking to fill three seats on its Board of Equalization.
The Board is composed of 5 community members, appointed by the Borough Assembly, who make decisions regarding property valuation in the FNSB.
One of the open seats is for a full board term, which will end in December 2023.
The remaining two are for alternates, who fill in at meetings when regular members aren’t available, and whose terms will end in December of 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Borough Mayor Bryce Ward explained that the board hears from assessors and property owners when disagreements arise in assigning value to property. “It’s a very important board to be on. We’re asking for folks that have experience in real estate, and that understand financial aspects of real estate. So if there’s members of our community that are interested in that, and have that expertise, maybe a realtor, or banker, contractor... those are kind of the skill sets that we’re looking for,” he said.
More information about the Board of Equalization can be found on the borough’s website.
