FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Mike Barnhill, Deputy Commissioner with the Department of Revenue, announced the winners of the 2nd Annual Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) Education Raffle on Wednesday, January 27th.
The raffle is composed of voluntary contributions made to Alaska’s education system by residents applying for their PFD.
Every hundred dollars registered equals one entry into the drawing.
Total contributions this year came to more than $983,000 with half of that amount going to the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. Another quarter of the total contributions goes to the Education Endowment Fund.
This year, the first prize in the raffle was nearly $35,000, which went to Abraham Horpestad.
