FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - In a press release issued Thursday evening, the Fairbanks Police Department has announced that Kayce Smith, who was reported missing on January 9, 2021, has been located.

After a tip from a local business stating that Kacye had been shopping at their establishment, police were able to get paperwork containing her current contact information.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Kayce was contacted and made aware that she had been reported missing by a family member. Kayce denied any abduction, coercion, or force was used against her and stated she had spoken to her family member numerous times since being reported as missing. The reporting family member had been contacted several times by FPD and had repeatedly stated she had not heard from Kayce. Kayce was removed from missing status and this case has been closed.

Fairbanks Police would like to thank the community for their attention to missing persons reports and encourage anyone with information about open cases to contact them at investigations@fairbanks.us or 907-450-6500.
