FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Monroe Catholic Rams program played a balanced game against the North Pole Patriots behind the offense of Miles Fowler and defense from goaltender Jimmy Packee out at the Polar Ice Arena. Fowler scored twice in Monroe’s 2-0 victory over North Pole while Jimmy Packee scored the shutout. Packee was dominant in-between the pipes for the Blue and Gold with 30 saves.

“Feels great, first shutout for Monroe in probably about like four years I think,” said Packee. “We work good as a team.”

With roughly 10 minutes left in the third period, Monroe and Packee faced their toughest challenge, a five minute major penalty. Packee stood his ground on numerous occasions, deflecting the Patriots’ shots along the way. Packee survived the five minutes without giving up a single goal.

“Yeah it was the five minute major at the end and I felt like it was getting a little rough.” said Packee.

North Pole will now look to rebound next week against the West Valley Wolfpack on February 3, while Monroe takes on the Lathrop Malemutes on the 4th at the Polar Ice Arena.
