FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - From now thru February 22nd, the National Letter Carriers Local Union will be hosting a food drive, collecting canned foods for the Fairbanks Community Food Bank. This drive will be taking place at local car dealerships throughout Fairbanks including Seekins Ford, Stanley Nissan, Geane’s Chrysler, and Affordable Used Cars.

Anne Weaver, CEO of the Fairbanks Community Food Bank elaborated on how Fairbanks residents can participate. “So if people want so support their favorite dealership, you take in either dollars or cans to the dealership. Each can is gonna count as one dollar so it’s all just one to one - makes it nice and easy. The winning dealership, the one that brings in the most cans for the Fairbanks Community Food Bank is gonna get a pizza party thrown by the letter carriers union, and they’re also gonna get a little gift card.”

This food drive is replacing the Letter Carriers Food Drive which usually takes place in May, during which participants leave cans of food in their mailbox to submit for the drive.
