FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Governor Mike Dunleavy has sent a letter to Alaska State Senator Lora Reinbold condemning the Republican senator from Eagle River for misrepresenting the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dated February 18th, the letter accuses the senator of abdicating the tenets of her oath as a public servant.
Dunleavy goes on to tell Reinbold, “You impugned the motivations of unelected and non-political employees working for the State of Alaska with baseless allegation that, on multiple occasions, were demonstrated to you to be false.”
The letter called Reinbold’s statements a betrayal of the public trust, and a violation of her obligation as a legislator to promote and protect public health.
According to Dunleavy, the letter serves as notice that Alaska’s Executive Branch will no longer respond to or participate with Reinbold on any matter concerning herself or her position as Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The letter went on to say, “The resources of the State of Alaska are not yours to abuse for your own, as yet undiscernible, personal benefit.”
As of news time, Senator Reinbold’s office has not provided a response to this station’s request for comment.
