Alaska State Troopers plan increased patrols over St. Patrick’s Day
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska State Troopers are reminding people to not drink and drive on St. Patrick’s Day. According to Trooper Jacob Ianacone AST will be increasing patrols on March 17th and 18th to look for people driving under the influence.
He also said that there will be more troopers on the road looking for drivers displaying signs of intoxication. Ianacone encouraged motorists to not make bad decisions just because of a holiday.
“It’s never a good idea to drink and drive, and just because it’s St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t change that at all. It’s going to be the same criminal charges, same fines, same court costs, same jail time no matter what day of the year it is,” Ianacone said.
Ianocone also encourages anyone who suspects a dangerous driver to call 911 and report it.
