FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Tanana Chiefs Conference is holding their annual convention starting Wednesday, March 17th.

The event’s theme this year is “Resiliency and Renewal.”

It is being held at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel while being livestreamed on TCC’s website. 42 tribal delegates from Interior Alaska will attend.

In addition to holding elections for board members, the convention this year highlights TCC’s COVID-19 response.

Keynote Speaker Valerie Nurr’araaluk Davidson talked about TCC’s vaccination efforts, and their offering of vaccines to the general population.

“Despite the trauma that has been inflicted on our people for a long, long time, when those same people needed our help, our values are so strong that we stepped up to help them, and that’s one of the incredible strengths of our people, and that’s the strength that we bring to our work,” she said.
