Borough plans Pioneer Park Playground project
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough is planning a new playground at Pioneer Park, one that is expected to operate year round.
On Tuesday, the Borough released a design for the proposed playground, which includes an outdoor ice-skating park in the winter, as well as play areas titled “Denali” and “The Pipeline.”
The project is estimated to cost $2.5 million out of the Capital Improvement Plan in the future.
Borough Mayor Bryce Ward explained that the project has been in the works for a number of years. “There’s some great opportunities for the community and for businesses to be a part of this project. It is currently a part of our Capital Improvement Program. However, it is about five years out, and so it’s not something that’s going to necessarily be soon on the Capital Improvement Program but that’s subject to change,” he said.
More information, including a virtual walkthrough of the playground’s design, can be found at the borough’s website.
