Fairbanks North Star Borough libraries expand browsing services
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough is expanding services at the Noel Wien Public Library.
Starting on April 9th, 45-minute appointments can be made on Friday afternoons to browse materials at the main facility in Fairbanks.
Masking and social distancing will still be required at the libraries, and the Berry Room will have limited capacity.
Borough Mayor Bryce Ward said that browsing will also be made available on Saturdays at the North Pole branch.
Ward said, “We’re also offering appointments for use by computers. We’ve been doing that for quite some time, or to obtain a library card, so if you have someone that needs to get one replaced, or get a new library card, we’re doing those appointments as well, and of course, all of our services that we’ve been providing through the Bookmobile and virtual services will continue on through the summer.”
Appointments can be made up to a week in advance.
Those looking to make a browsing appointment at Noel Wien in Fairbanks can call the library’s main number at (907) 459-1020.
Appointments at the North Pole Branch can be made by calling (907) 488-6101.
