Pet of the Week: Rashka the very friendly kitty
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - It’s time to meet Rashka, the very friendly kitty looking for her new forever home.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Rashka is a three-year-old cat that came into the shelter because she was urinating in inappropriate areas. She has been to the vet, and health-wise she is totally great, a very healthy cat! So this is most likely a behavioral issue.
Because of that Rashka needs to go to a home without children, without any other pets. Just a very quiet home. This should really help eliminate any stress that she might be feeling and help improve her urinary issues. She will go to the bathroom in the litter box, but again, she does that occasional accident and we really want owners to be aware of that before adopting.
Rashka’s previous owners stated she is a perfect cat otherwise. She’s very loving, very affectionate. She adores people and wants to be around her people all the time. She is a little bit shy here at the shelter in the new surroundings and does enjoy spending a lot of time in her hide box. So if you do decide to adopt her, she might spend some time hiding before she comes out and really makes her presence known in the home.
But like I said, she’s a very sweet girl just looking for her forever home and an owner that’s going to be patient and willing to work with her needs and her urinary issues. If you are interested in meeting Rashka or any of our other doggy and kitty friends here at the shelter, please give us a call!”
