Mary Siah Recreation Center set to reopen April 5th
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Mary Siah Recreation Center is scheduled to reopen on April 5th.
The center has been closed since March of last year.
Recreation Superintendent Steve Taylor explained that the facility’s staff is excited to get back to operations.
Due to COVID-19, the center will operate at limited capacity, and the hot tub and sauna will be off limits.
According to Taylor, the building underwent structural repairs during the closure.
He said the process “involved shoring up some of the walls that were framed incorrectly. There was some work that was done to the, I believe, the pan deck, the part that supports the deck around the pool. There was some work done on some of the concrete walls in the building. There was a wall that was realigned to put it in the proper place.”
Upon reopening, the center’s hours will be Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
