Pet of the Week: Windjeel the sweet older Alaskan Husky
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - It’s time to meet Windjeel, the kind older gentlemen guaranteed to melt anyone’s heart.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Windjeel is an eleven-year-old Alaskan Husky. He was surrendered to the shelter because his owners were moving and not able to take him. Windjeel has lived his entire life outdoors, but we are really hoping to find a nice warm place inside to call home. He loves to cuddle; he loves all the extra treats and the blankets.
Being that Windjeel was an outside dog, he might need some work on potty training. However, he has kept his kennel very clean here at the shelter. He had a vet checkup where he had his teeth cleaned, and he’s in tip top shape to go to his forever home.
He is on some pain medication for arthritis which we encourage the owners to please continue giving because he’s a much perkier old man when he’s on that medication. Even though he has some age on him, he’s still got a lot of spunk and loves to go outside and go on walks.
Again, Windjeel is a sweet old man looking for a place to call home. If you’re interested in meeting Windjeel, or any of his other doggy friends, kitty friends, bunny, hamster, or mice, please give the shelter a call!”
