Pet of the Week: Nymeria the affectionate Alaskan Husky
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - It’s time to meet the super affectionate, loving Alaskan Husky, Nymeria.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Hi, I’m Britley, and today I’d like to introduce you all to Nymeria. Nymeria is a four-year-old Alaskan Husky. She was surrendered to the shelter because she wasn’t getting along with the other dogs in the home.
Because of that, we are requiring that Nymeria goes to a home without any other pets. Being that she is an Alaskan Husky, her prey drive is pretty high, so you want to eliminate any chances of her attacking any other animals.
Nymeria is extremely sweet when it comes to her people. She is said to love children, she loves cuddles and all the attention on her. She just needs a home that is willing to work with her special needs, and not have any other critters around.
Nymeria has a little bit of anxiety, and she is currently on anti-anxiety medication for that. Her previous owners said that it really seems to help her, so we are really pushing for her new owners to continue on that medication.
She is an Alaskan Husky with a lot of energy. Nymeria will need frequent exercise, making sure that she’s always on a leash so she doesn’t escape. Or in an enclosed fenced yard. If Nymeria sounds like the girl for you, and you’re willing to put a little extra attention and work into this girl, please give the shelter a call. Nymeria has other doggy friends here, bunny friends, some mice friends and if you’re looking to adopt, please give us a call!”
