Borough Mayor named one of the top “40 under 40” young professionals in Alaska
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Journal of Commerce has named Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor Bryce Ward as one of the top 40 young professionals under the age of 40 in the state.
Ward previously served as the mayor of North Pole, as well as a member of its city council.
He began his political career in 2011, when he was 25 years old.
During his public service, he’s faced issues ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the closing of a refinery in North Pole.
Ward attributes his success to hard work and dedication.
“It’s nice to know that you’re appreciated, and that the work that you’re doing goes noticed. Sometimes being in elected office, it’s a little bit unrewarding. It seems like everything you do you’re upsetting someone, and so someone once told me that if you’re doing that, you’re probably right about where you need to be, but that can still be a little bit draining at times, so it’s really humbling to be recognized for the top 40 under 40,” he said.
Along with Ward, Fairbanks saw several other local honorees.
In alphabetical order, Tanya Kaquatosh with Doyon Limited, Isaiah Mangum with Fairbanks Brand Studio, Natasha Singh with the Tanana Chiefs Conference, and Dr. Claire Stoltz with the Tanana Valley Clinic were also recognized.
