FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - It’s time to meet Verona, the curious bunny with a fondness for peppers.

Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:

Hi, I’m Britley, and today I’d like to introduce you all to my little bunny pal Verona. Verona is a four-month-old intact female bunny. She was dropped at the shelter as a stray with a big group of bunnies that were left at the transfer station.

We would like to remind everybody that we do have 24/7 drop-off heated cages available. And please take advantage of those.

Back to Verona, Verona is a sweet bunny. She’s very active, very interested in exploring. If you’ve never owned a bunny before, a few things that you need to be aware of. They should have Timothy Hay available at all times. That’s for their GI health as well as their teeth. They should have a measured amount of pellet food, as well as fresh greens available.

Bunnies like to have a large area where they can explore and hop around. If you choose to let your bunny explore your home, please be sure that it is bunny proof. Because they also like to chew on things, they aren’t supposed to like chords.

Verona is partially litter box trained, but this is something that her new owners would probably want to work a little bit more at. She’s a sweet bunny looking for a new home, and she has got a lot of bunny friends here at the shelter. Doggy friends, mice friends, and even a rooster. If you’re interested in adopting, please give us a call!
