FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Local police departments have put on precessions this week contributing to the celebration of graduating classes in schools across the borough. Vehicles from the Fairbanks Police Department, North Pole Police Department, and the Alaska State Troopers made appearances at high school graduation ceremonies throughout the week. Decorated for each school by officers and their families, these parades arrived to celebrate the classes of 2021 at West Valley, Hutch, Lathrop, and North Pole.

Fairbanks Police Department Deputy Chief Richard Sweet explained why this display was put on saying, “We’ve always felt it was important that the department and its officers should be involved with the schools. We forget sometimes the monumental task it takes to get to graduation. All that effort that we’re putting in as kids and as we’re transitioning to adults, it’s a major milestone and we wanted to be a part of it and just show that we’re there for them. They represent the future officers in law enforcement not only here, but with Alaska State Troopers, all the law enforcement agencies.”
