Open for business: Arby’s makes an official return to Fairbanks
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - An Arby’s restaurant on University Avenue in Fairbanks opened on Tuesday, June 15.
The franchise sits where a Carl’s Jr previously stood.
For months, the new restaurant has been getting supplies, remodeling the building, and hiring and training staff.
Noelle Spafford, Area Coach for Alaska Arby’s locations said, “We’ve had some unique challenges, I’d say making sure that we get the product up here in a timely manner.”
Spafford attributes the challenges to “the nature of the remoteness in Fairbanks.”
General Manager James Poole discussed the process of preparing the restaurant saying, “We’ve been learning a lot, getting the building ready, getting all the food in the store, getting all the team members trained, it’s just been a big learning experience, for I think everyone involved.”
The restaurant ran a cold opening on Sunday for the staff’s friends and family.
According to Poole, “We have a bell in our lobby, and a lot of people were ringing it saying they loved the food and it was delicious.”
At 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the doors opened, and customers were ready. Third in line Anthony Martin said, “I’ve always been a fan of Arby’s, lived here for about 4 years, saw they were opening. Been asking every day, ‘Are you guys opening?’ Finally they are.”
And by the afternoon, cars lined the parking lot.
This location is the 7th Arby’s in the state of Alaska.
Arby’s is open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. seven days a week.
