Pet of the Week: Gizmo the happy Alaskan Husky
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Here’s a pet you can feed after midnight no problem! Gizmo is a happy, energetic, loving dog looking for a loving family to play with.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Gizmo is a four-year-old Alaskan Husky who was surrendered to the shelter just because his owner didn’t feel like he had enough time for him.
As Alaskan Huskies are, Gizmo does have a high prey drive and he is required to go to a home without cats because he does like to chase them, unfortunately.
Gizmo is said to do well with dogs however. He can be a little shy at first when meeting other dogs, but then warms up quite quickly. Gizmo is also very people friendly, he can be a little shyer when it comes to being around men, but warms up again very quickly.
He’s a loving dog, he’s been very sweet and affectionate here at the shelter with his animal tenders. If you’ve never owned an Alaskan Husky before, just be prepared for a lot of energy. This guy is going to require a lot of physical and mental stimulation to live his best life. He’s a happy boy looking for his forever home. And if you’re looking to adopt, please consider him. And we also have other dogs, cats, and rabbits here at the shelter.”
