FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Division of Forestry issued a press release yesterday regarding an injury sustained by a firefighter in a single-vehicle rollover accident.

On Saturday, the firefighter was traveling to the Munson Creek Fire near Chena Hot Springs east of Fairbanks when the vehicle went off the road near Mile 39 and rolled multiple times.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and had extensive injuries. Medics at the Munson Creek Fire responded to the accident, and a Fairbanks Forestry helicopter transported the driver to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and he was medevaced to the Providence Medical Center in Anchorage later on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, the firefighter was reported to be in serious but stable condition, and the Alaska State Troopers are investigating the incident.

As of news time, the borough has updated the fire to level 3 evacuation for chena hot springs road east of milepost 48.

All individuals have been asked to evacuate and leave immediately. We will continue to update you with more information as it becomes available.
