Fairbanks Cycle Club’s Virtual Tour of Fairbanks canceled

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks Cycle Club announced Tuesday the cancellation of the annual Strava Tour of Fairbanks race due to technical difficulties encountered while organizing the virtual event.

“No one is more disappointed than we are,” a Fairbanks Cycle Club statement said. “Hopefully, we will be back to an in-person, live race format in 2022! If you are interested in organizing or sponsoring the 2022 Tour of Fairbanks, please get in touch with the Fairbanks Cycle Club.”

While the race that was set to begin Thursday is officially canceled, the five-stages still be completed individually if one wishes to do so.

The 2020 Tour of Fairbanks was also held virtually. The Fairbanks Cycle Club will still be hosting other events throughout the summer, with their master calendar available here.
