FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Munson Creek Fire’s evacuation level has been reduced.

The level for the fire, burning near Chena Hot Springs Road, has been changed from “GO to “SET” as its threat lessens.

According to a press release from the Alaska Division of Forestry (ADF), the “SET” level means that people can remain in the area, but should be ready to evacuate at any time.

Zane Brown with ADF cautions drivers on the road, as firefighters continue working along the highway.

Estimates place the fire’s current size at around 38,000 acres, and 129 personnel are still working on the blaze.
