Alaska Department of Public Safety Commissioner addresses Two Rivers arsons
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Alaska Department of Public Safety Commissioner, James Cockrell, addressed the arsons taking place in Two Rivers.
Cockrell was in Fairbanks for Governor Mike Dunleavy’s cabinet meeting.
During the meeting, the commissioner was asked about the recent string of arsons that have been taking place in Two Rivers just outside of Fairbanks. There have been at least 5 arsons in the community, and other fires are being investigated as potential arsons.
Cockrell said that he will be heading out to Two Rivers to meet with victims of the fires. He also said that State and Federal law enforcement is using every method they can to catch the arsonist, and he is confident that they will succeed.
“To the bottom of my heart, I know we are doing the right thing right now, and we are going to get this fixed and somebody is going to go to jail for this,” Cockrell said.
Alaska State Troopers, the Alaska Deputy Fire Marshal and the FBI are all working to solve the crimes that have destroyed numerous homes.
