Hundreds of activities planned for grand reopening of Tanana Valley State Fair
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Tanana Valley State Fair opens this week, and hundreds of activities are planned for its grand return.
According to Mahla Strohmaier, Executive Director of the Tanana Valley State Fair, precautions have been taken to make the fair safe and comfortable for residents looking to have a good time. “We have learned through the last year and a half not to have expectations, because they will be wrong regardless of what they are. So we are very hopeful that people who are comfortable coming out... we are taking precautions as needed and it will be a safe place to come. We have a booth offering vaccinations every day for those who want to do that, who haven’t had the opportunity yet. But we think a lot of people are ready to celebrate community again.”
According to Karen Lane, Operations Manager for the Tanana Valley State Fair, numerous activities and vendors have been lined up to provide entertainment and fun to those in attendance. “Friday July 30th, at noon we open up for our 97th fair. We have Council of Alaska Producers Day and mining information, mining exhibits and also Military Appreciation Day, and we have great entertainment all day every day - but we do have... on that day, the Rock Bottom Boys will be performing. They’re from the northwest and they’re great entertainment. This year we’re partnering with the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and we will have their performance of their folks that attended the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival... over 300 activities and performances at the fair.”
