Pet of the Week: Pilot the speedy Alaskan Husky
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - It’s time to meet a dog who has years of experience under her wings.
Pilot is a energetic and loving Husky who is looking for a loving home and people to go on runs with.
Here’s what Britley Calkins, an animal handler with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
“Pilot is a seven-year-old Alaskan Husky that is looking for her new forever home.
Pilot was trained in mushing; however she is getting a little older so she would still love to get lots of exercise but possibly go on shorter runs. Pilot is so sweet, we have all fallen in love with her.
She was previously living outdoors on a chain, so if you’re planning on transitioning her to be an inside dog, she may need some help learning how to be potty trained, and just getting the basic ins and outs of being an indoor dog.
Pilot does need to be properly restrained when outdoors, because she will run. She also has proven to be quite a fence climber here at the shelter. So just making sure that she’s in a secured area or on a secure chain is going to be key for this girl.
She is a sweet loving girl looking for her new forever home. We have plenty of other dogs, cats, and pocket pets looking for their forever homes here at the shelter - and if you’re interested, please give us a call.”
