FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - (original story below)

Alaska State Troopers identified a body found in a freezer outside of Tok, Alaska as 67-year-old Michael Lynn Teffeteller of Anchorage.

Lead investigator Matthew Iverson said that they are looking for information about why Teffeteller may have been in Tok. Iverson said that his last known location was in Anchorage in around 2018.

Iverson said that Teffeteller may have been a transient in Anchorage and anyone who interacted with him is asked to contact troopers. He said that there are other Michael Teffetellers in Anchorage, but they are specifically looking for information about Michael Lynn Teffeteller.

Many details of the case are still being withheld due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Iverson said that the State Medical Examiners Office confirmed that it was a homicide, but he was unable to say how Teffeteller was murdered or if they have any suspects.

Iverson said they waited to publicly identify Teffeteller until they could conduct interviews.

“Anytime we have a case for a homicide, we have to conduct interviews with people and do more in depth investigations into the homicide,” Iverson said.

He went on to say they conduct these interviews before releasing any major leads to the public, as that practice could hinder the investigation. “Now we are coming to the public because we’ve covered all of those avenues and we are looking for any tips, any information about Michael Lynn Teffeteller - why he was in the Tok area, why he would have been up in the Tok area, any information on if they know of any other people that are involved.”

Troopers think that Teffeteller has been dead for some time. Troopers said that he wasn’t on the missing persons list and had never been reported missing. Next of kin have been notified. Iverson encouraged anyone who hasn’t heard from a friend or relative for a while to try calling troopers, and they will attempt to locate them.

Iverson said that any information about Teffeteller would be helpful.
