FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A deadline for businesses to apply for COVID relief funding is quickly approaching. The City of Fairbanks American Rescue Plan Grant provides financial aid to businesses in the tourism and hospitality industry that lost revenue because of the pandemic.

Teal Soden is the Communications Director for Fairbanks and reminds businesses that the deadline to apply is this Sunday, August 15 before midnight. She said that they are encouraging more businesses to apply as they have only have 32 applicants and around $1.5 million available to distribute. The funds will be distributed among the applicants who are eligible.

Small businesses in the tourism, travel and hospitality industry that are located within the Fairbanks City limits are eligible to apply.

Soden says people can find information about the grant and apply at the City of Fairbanks website. “It’s really easy to apply online. The description tells you all of the forms that you need to submit. So we have tried to make it as easy a process as possible.”

Soden said that any business that is approved for funds should receive them by August 31.
