FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - While a head-to-head meet between Monroe Catholic and West Valley High School officially kicked off the 2021 swim season, this past weekend saw all of the schools from Region VI dive into the waters at Hamme Pool for the Lathrop Invitational.

Friday saw 24 events with six schools participating, while Saturday featured unconventional events that were not counted, taking advantage of the pool time during the early stages of the season.

West Valley boys and girls racked up 326 points to take the combined team scores title, while North Pole finished runner-up with 97. Lathrop rounded out the top three, while Valdez, Hutchison and Monroe - who feature smaller rosters - followed behind.

Swimmers will have an extended time without competition, as Hutchison will self-compete on September 17th, before all of the Region VI schools gather for the Valdez Invite September 24-25.
